Famous Artists and the Horse![]() The beauty of the horse and the horse's place in history predated written language. Images have been created since prehistoric times in ancient cave dwellings, both in Europe and North Africa. That special bond between horse and man was established since the beginning! As far back as 3000 BC horses have played a significant role in the growth of civilization. Horses have struck a chord with man and have been the object of work, love, nobleness and beauty. Horses have survived and thrived because it is the embodiment of spirit and inspiration. They have been a friend to man for centuries and will continue in that vein--no matter what their changing role may be. Below are a number of articles that I have researched and written about the horse and sporting artists. Most of the artists below have captured their place in history. Many of them were regular painters of horses and other animals. I will continue to add to this category as time permits. Enjoy!
